Irish Rock Alpines is a small, family-run goat farm located just outside the rural community of Molalla in Clackamas County, Oregon. What began as a desire to raise our children in the country has grown into a focused, genetics-driven breeding program dedicated to quality Alpine dairy goats.
Our journey with goats began in the early 2000s and initially centered on South African Boer goats. That chapter of our farm provided a strong foundation in animal husbandry, structural evaluation, and long-term herd health. While we no longer actively breed Boer goats—retaining only two retired does—the knowledge gained during those years continues to inform our standards and decision-making today.
In 2015, we introduced Alpines to our program, acquiring our foundation animals from world-renowned breeder, Dr. Lauren Acton of Tempo Farm. Over time, the Alpine's balance of productivity, durability, and breed character became the clear direction for our farm. As our goals evolved, so did our focus, and today Irish Rock Alpines is dedicated exclusively to maintaining a small, high-quality Alpine herd.
The quality of our milk naturally led to the creation of The Feisty Farmgirl Soap Company, LLC, where we craft goat milk soaps, lotions, and other bath and beauty products using fresh, wholesome milk from our own herd. This extension of the farm reflects the same principles that guide our breeding program—careful stewardship, consistency, and respect for the animals that make our work possible.
Our Alpines are bred first for performance, production, and longevity, with the structural correctness and breed character required for success in the show ring and advanced dairy breeding programs, including those supporting youth exhibitors. Our breeding decisions are guided by carefully selected, internationally respected genetics, with an emphasis on animals that remain productive and structurally sound over long, useful lives.
Equally important to our program is education and community. We are strong supporters of youth agriculture and value working with 4-H and FFA families, new breeders, and experienced dairy goat enthusiasts alike. We believe that thoughtful mentorship and honest conversations are just as important as good genetics.
Irish Rock Alpines is built on experience, intention, and respect for the animals we raise—focused on quality over quantity, functional excellence over trends, and the long view of dairy goat breeding.
